“The Yoga of Selfless Action”
📜 Verses: 43
In this chapter, Lord Krishna explains the importance of performing one’s duty (karma) without attachment to results.
He clarifies Arjuna’s confusion — even though knowledge is supreme, action is essential for human growth and the world’s balance.
Action is unavoidable — even maintaining your body requires work.
“Na hi kaścit kṣaṇam api jātu tiṣṭhaty akarma-kṛt”
“No one can remain without action even for a moment.” (BG 3.5)
Do your duty without desire for reward.
“Yogasthaḥ kuru karmāṇi saṅgaṁ tyaktvā dhanañjaya”
“Be steadfast in yoga, perform your duty, abandoning attachment.” (BG 3.30)
Set an example for others.
“Yad yad ācarati śreṣṭhas tat tad evetaro janaḥ”
“Whatever a great person does, others follow.” (BG 3.21)
Selfless action purifies the mind.
Acting for the benefit of all — without ego — leads to liberation.
